In November of 2019 Joey Clift was featured on the Earwolf video game review podcast How Did This Get Played to discuss the Atari 2600 game Custer’s Revenge. He used his appearance as the first Native American podcast guest in the show’s history to talk about the tokenization of Native people in podcasting, and the difficult position marginalized comedians are often put in.

His appearance was called a “watershed moment in podcasting” by several media outlets, and was named “podcast episode of the year” by Indiewire, Vulture, and Uproxx. Joey wrote an Op-Ed about his experience, which can be read here.
