In the mid-2000s singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Sufjan Stevens said he was going to make an album for all 50 US states, but he gave up after 2 albums. In the spring of 2020 while under quarantine Joey produced over 50 albums worth of music, made by hundreds of people from the internet, to finish Sufjan Stevens’ 50 States Project once and for all. Our 50 States Project was featured by international media outlets including Pitchfork, The AV Club, Exclaim, and Live Wire with Luke Burbank.
